Cost of making a Will

My partner and I have had our first child. I don’t have a will and know little about them. How much does it cost to get one and how do I go about getting it done?

Making a will is one of the easiest and yet most important processes that the law provides.  If you don’t have a solicitor, ask a friend or family member who has already gone through the process of making their will and phone the solicitor and make arrangements to meet.

You will probably be advised that in relation to any share you want to give your child a trust will should be created in case both you and your partner are killed in a car crash.

The costs vary but unless there is a disabled child involved that will require a special trust to be set up then €250 should cover the cost.

Many people are afraid of making their will because it is some sort of expression of their mortality.  The exact opposite should be the case.  A will is there to put your family affairs in order if and when your time comes and once you have made your will you have done that aspect of your duties, and you can forget about it and get on with life.
