Who owns farm?

How do I find out who owns a farm?

You should go to the Land Registry (now known as the Property Registration Authority) and go to the mapping section and find the farm.  You can then requisition a copy of the folio, which will give you all the details of ownership and mortgages and rights of way over that particular property.

You should note that land can also be leased and whilst the Land Registry will disclose the name of the owner, a short-term or temporary convenience letting to a local farmer may not appear.

As an alternative, you can go to a law searcher (you will find details in the Golden Pages www.goldenpages.ie and commission them to carry out a search.  The fee will probably be between €50 and €100.
